"They reassembled my bed frame in the new place without me asking — just did it. My full-length mirror made it from Echo Park to Silver Lake without a scratch. I've moved four times in LA. This was the first time I didn't have to manage the crew."

The last move
you have to figure out yourself.

Licensed LA movers who know Laurel Canyon switchbacks, third-floor Koreatown walkups, and what "court-ordered timeline" means.

The questions your last mover
never answered.

LA moves involve permits, narrow streets, and buildings with rules nobody mentions until move day. Here's what you need to know before the truck arrives.

In most LA neighborhoods, yes — and it's your responsibility to file, not ours. LA DOT requires a Special Event Parking Permit for any commercial vehicle over 6,000 lbs parked on a residential street for more than 30 minutes. The permit costs $47–$68 depending on the district and must be filed at least 72 hours in advance.

We handle the permit paperwork for you when you book a full-service move. We've filed over 340 LA DOT permits across Silver Lake, Los Feliz, Echo Park, and Brentwood. Just give us your address and move date — we do the rest.

Santa Monica, Culver City, and West Hollywood have separate permit systems. Burbank requires 48-hour notice. Tell us your origin and destination when booking and we'll flag what applies.

Yes — and we quote it honestly upfront. Third-floor walkups add time and physical labor; we don't hide that in the final invoice. Our rate for walkup floors above the second is $35 per flight per mover, disclosed at booking, not at delivery.

Koreatown buildings vary significantly: some have wide stairwells, others have 90-degree turns at every landing. If you send us your building address when booking, we'll check our crew notes — we've moved in and out of hundreds of KTown buildings since 2019.

Elevator buildings: We coordinate with your building manager to reserve the freight elevator during your move window. Most buildings require 48-hour notice. We make that call for you.

A standard two-bedroom apartment move — pack-only or move-only — runs 4–6 hours with a three-person crew. Add an hour for every flight of stairs, 45 minutes for disassembly/reassembly of beds and large furniture, and factor in LA traffic windows.

We schedule moves to avoid the 405 during peak hours. Morning starts (7–8am) are strongly recommended for cross-town moves from the Westside to the Eastside. We'll tell you the honest time estimate when you book — not the optimistic one.

Our policy: If a move runs over our quoted time due to our crew's pace, we don't charge for the overage. If it runs over because of access delays or scope changes, we discuss it before the clock starts ticking.

California law prohibits moving companies from transporting hazardous materials including propane tanks, paint cans with liquid, motor oil, car batteries, and compressed gas canisters. This isn't fine print — it's a CPUC regulation that applies to every licensed mover in the state.

We'll give you a clear pre-move checklist that flags what needs to go in your personal vehicle. Common surprises: cleaning products, aerosol cans, plants (some buildings prohibit them in freight elevators), and firearms.

What happens if something
breaks or goes missing?

The answer should be in plain language, not buried in a bill of lading. Here's exactly what our coverage covers, what California law requires, and what you should know before signing anything.

Under California law (PUC Section 20130), licensed movers must offer two levels of liability. Here's what they actually mean:

  • Basic coverage (free, default): $0.60 per pound per item. Your 40-lb flat-screen TV is covered for $24. This is the legal minimum. It is not enough for valuable items.
  • Full Value Protection (available at booking): We repair, replace, or reimburse at current market value. This is what we recommend for anything irreplaceable.
Our cargo insurance: $100,000 per load, underwritten through Markel Insurance. Policy number available on request. CPUC License MTR0192847. We carry this documentation on every truck.

The California Public Utilities Commission licenses and regulates all household goods movers operating within the state. A CPUC license means we have:

  • Filed proof of insurance with the state
  • Agreed to follow the California Household Movers Guide rate structure
  • Submitted to random audits of our tariff and billing practices
  • Maintained a complaint record accessible to the public
Verify us: Search MTR0192847 at cpuc.ca.gov/puc/transportation/moving. Unlicensed movers — common in LA — have no accountability and no legal obligation to pay claims.

Building damage is covered under our $1,000,000 general liability policy, not your renter's insurance. If our crew scratches a banister, scuffs a hallway, or damages an elevator door, we file the claim. You don't.

We document the condition of your old and new home before we move a single box — photos of existing damage, doorframes, hardwood floors. That documentation protects you from a landlord attributing pre-existing damage to your move.

Yes — and in California, you're legally entitled to one. Under CPUC tariff rules, any licensed mover must provide a written, non-binding estimate before the move begins. A binding estimate locks in the price regardless of how long the job takes.

We offer both. Walk-through quotes (in-person or video) are more accurate than phone estimates for moves with furniture, art, or non-standard items. Our "Get a Walk-Through Quote" form below books a 20-minute virtual walkthrough at no charge.

Letting strangers into your home
with everything you own.

The questions nobody wants to ask out loud. We'd rather you ask them here than worry on move day.

Every Haul crew member passes a federal background check through Checkr before their first job. We re-run checks annually. No crew member with a felony conviction or theft-related misdemeanor in the past seven years works a Haul move.

Our crew is W-2 employed — not gig-contracted. That means they're covered by workers' compensation, they receive consistent training, and they're accountable to us, not to a platform algorithm.

Ask us on move day: Every crew member carries a Haul ID badge with their name, photo, and employee ID. If someone shows up without one, call our dispatch line immediately.

Life changes. Court orders get amended, escrow closes late, HR timelines shift. Our rescheduling policy:

  • More than 7 days out: reschedule at no charge, unlimited times
  • 3–7 days out: one free reschedule, $75 for subsequent changes
  • Under 72 hours: $150 reschedule fee (we've already committed crew and equipment)
  • Day-of cancellation: 50% of quoted move cost

Court-ordered moves with documented timeline changes are handled case-by-case. We've worked with attorneys and mediators before — just tell us what's happening.

Full-service means our crew handles everything from wrapping to placement. Specifically:

  • Quilted pad wrapping for all furniture
  • Disassembly and reassembly of bed frames, dining tables, and sectional sofas
  • Wardrobe boxes provided (and returned after the move)
  • Appliance dolly and stair-climbing equipment on every truck
  • Placement of furniture in your new home exactly where you want it
  • Removal of all packing materials from your new home

Yes. We've worked with clients going through divorce proceedings, estate settlements, and court-ordered property division in Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and Pasadena courts.

We understand that these moves happen under pressure and with specific documentation requirements. We provide a detailed move receipt and chain-of-custody log that has been accepted in LA Superior Court proceedings.

Attorney referrals welcome. If your attorney needs to speak with our operations manager before booking, we accommodate that. Confidentiality is standard.
